Type 2 gold dollars were only made for 3 years (1854-1856). Because of this, they are highly sought after by type collectors. A type collector is someone that attempts to get one nice example (or not so nice, depending on taste/style) of everytype of US coin. This particular example is graded AU58 by the CAC grading company and has great surfaces and eye appeal.
