The 1846-D comes in two varieties - regular D and the D/D mintmark. Of the two, it is actually the overdate which is more common. The regular D coin is quite rare according to PCGS, where only 30 or so have been authenticated at the grade of AU55 or above (the majority being AU with only 6 in MS grades). Considering the fervor which Dahlonega mint coins are collected, this piece is both rare and highly desirable.
