This is a pillar dollar that was minted in Mexico City, Mexico under Ferdinand VI of Spain. These are very interesting pieces. Most have some signs of saltwater effect (ie from a shipwreck) which adds to the history and coolness factor of the piece. This example exhibits the "same crown" design (of two royal crowns) . In later 1754, one of the crowns (on the left) was adjusted to the imperial crown design.
